July 19th – Zwartkops International Karting Track, Pretoria. 2 Wins for Fabienne at Zwarkops after a torrid start

After a torrid start to the weekend, ENGEN Extreme/ Southern Sun / 1st Race’s Fabienne Lanz came home with 2 race wins.

Fast lady driver Fabienne Lanz had a challenging start to the race weekend as her engine failed before the first race of the day after qualifying on pole position. Her team then fitted another engine almost missing the start of the first race of the day only to retire in the warm up lap with a gear failure.

From the two spare engines, the team made a new one for Fabienne. “I am very grateful for everyone’s effort, including the cleaning guy, for helping me get my kart ready for race two as we were very pressed for time.”

Fabienne started the 2nd race from the back of the field, had a lightning start and darted her way to third position by the third corner. She held that position for a couple of laps and as her kart was set up to improve in performance by means of tire pressures as the race progressed, she then closed the gap to the front two competitors, overtook them and won the race.

“I think I had one of my best starts ever”, she chuffed.

Fabienne put in another impressive performance in the final race of the day as she led the way around the track in the 2nd half of the race to take her 2nd win for the day.

“I would like to thank my team for all their efforts and for ENGEN Extreme / Southern Sun for the continuous support”.

Fabienne now leads the championship at this point and hopes to seal the championship in the last two rounds which will be later in the year. She has the 4th round of the South African ENGEN Supa Karts National series lying ahead of her on her home track in Vereeniging on the 8th and 9th of August.
