Nov 20th 2009 – Dubai sponsored go-karting driver, Fabienne Lanz ended the year in style as she won the South African Northern Regions Championship held at Vereeniging for the 3rd time in her racing career.

This talented young lady racer kept her cool in the final round of the Championship, only needing to finish each heat to seal the championship. Competing on South Africa’s ‘Women’s Day’, Lanz felt even more confident to go full throttle in the fastest Super ROK class with her Tonykart, certain of a good result and finishing spectacularly second overall for the day.

“I am very pleased that we have won the Northern Regions Championship for the third consecutive time, I feel very blessed. We have had a very challenging year, winning some races, losing some, but I kept telling myself to never give up” Lanz said.

Fabienne also finished 3rd in the South African ENGEN Supa Karts Championship for this year, giving all the boys a run for their money. Internationally Fabienne campaigned both the Bridgestone Cup European Final and the Vortex Super Rok International Final in Italy earlier in October, where she proved that she can race just as fast and tough as the top guns.

Fabienne won the Pre-Final and finished 5th overall in the Bridgestone cup European Final and finished 14th in the Vortex Super Rok International final after a mechanical failure set her back in one of the Qualifying heats.

“I am ecstatic looking back at how this year ended for me and my team. All the hard work really paid off and I am looking forward to next year.” Fabienne also feels she is ready to tackle European Karting, where she hopes she can compete in the Vortex Super RoK and KF2 categories. Fabienne also has her eyes on the main circuit arena where she would like to do some testing and racing in the near future.

“Everything happens at the right time, I feel that I am now physically capable of handling a bigger racing machine.” commented Fabienne

“Motorsport is physically very tough, but this will not deter me from reaching my goals” continued Fabienne

Fabienne will attend the prestigious annual Awards Ceremony on the 28th of November 2009 to receive her award as South Africa Northern Regions Champion of 2009.
